Big and Little

Here’s a tip for all those out there that love to shop at Costco (or other bulk stores) but you don’t like to keep lugging those big bottles out of the cupboard. Let’s take the example of Canola Oil. The gallon jug at Costco is just so much less per ounce than going to Safeway and buying the equivalent in smaller more practical containers. Frankly, I want the best of both worlds and I have been blessed with the storage space to help.

So here is what I do. Go to the regular grocery store. Pick up the bottle of Canola Oil that seems easy to handle. This may not be the biggest one and possibly is not the smallest one. Don’t forget the story of the three bears. Look for the one that’s “just right”. When I get home I use it to my heart’s delight (without throwing out my shoulder hefting that gallon jug up and down) and as it gets low, I simply haul out the big guns and fill ‘er up.
